FAQ

Q: Who can play for Platte Canyon Little League?

Platte Canyon Little League is for children aged 4 to 16. All children desiring to play will be placed on a team. Assessments are held for all players Minors through Seniors. Parents/players will be notified when the teams are formed.

Q: What Division will my child play in?

  • 4-6 Tee-Ball - regardless of age, this is usually the best level for first time players
  • 6-9 Coach Pitch - best for players with at least 1-2 years of tee-ball
  • 8-12 Minors
  • 10-12 Majors
  • 12-14 Juniors
  • 14-16 Seniors

See PCLL Programs Page for more detailed information on each level.

Q: How do I know what Division my child will be in?

When you register online, the system is set to know the Division option(s) based on the birth-date of your child. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the proper player agent or the PCLL President. Player assessments will take place for levels Minors and up. Coaches have the ultimate call on which level will be best for each player with safety being the main consideration. Players may also be moved up or down levels based on enrollment numbers to ensure that each player who registered before the deadline has the opportunity to play on a team. Team rosters will be limited to a set number determined by the board also to help ensure playing time for all players.

See PCLL Programs Page for more information.

Q: When is registration?

Registration opens around the first of each year and closes around the third week in February (coinciding with Player Assessments) for levels Minors and up. Registration remains open until around the end of March for Coach Pitch and Tee Ball levels.

Q: When are Assessments?

Assessments will be held on February 15, 2020 at Platte Canyon High School for the Spring 2020 season. Assessments are for players in Minors and up.

Q: When will I know what team my child is on?

All players will be assigned to a team shortly after assessments. Coaches are responsible for contacting the player and/or parent after assessments are completed.

Q: What does PCLL provide?

PCLL provides the player's cap and jersey portion of the uniform. The player/parent is responsible for pants, socks, belt, cups (male athletes), gloves and cleats. PCLL also provides equipment such as bats, batting helmets, and catching gear. Players need to bring their own gloves and are encouraged to bring the bats and helmets that they want to use. All equipment needs to be checked by coaches to make certain they meet Little League International requirements.

Please see Baseball Bat Information page for new bat requirements if you choose to purchase your own bat.

Q: What are the responsibilities of the parents?

After signing the Parent Code of Conduct, parents need to make certain they provide contact information to the coaches and arrange to have their child to practice or games as requested by the coach. Parents will be assigned by their coach to take turns operating the Snack Shack at the Burland Ballfields when their team has a game (minors and up).

Q: Who are the coaches?

PCLL coaches come from parent volunteers. PCLL is always in need of good, qualified, and dedicated volunteers of all types. If you are interested in helping a team, please fill out either the Coaches/Volunteer Parent Application. You can do this after you register for your account.

Q: When do teams play?

PCLL plays a spring season. Practice happens approximately mid-March through the end of April. Exact days are negotiated amongst coaches. Games typically are scheduled from the end of April through the last weekend in June. Games, as negotiated by coaches, are usually scheduled Monday through Saturday, often 2 games per week. If there is an All-Star season, it will happen after the regular season ends.

Q: Where are games played?

PCLL fields are located in the Bailey area. There are two fields in the Burland subdivision on County Road 72, two fields just off of US Highway 285 on County Road 72, and one field on Wandcrest Road. PCLL is a part of a larger district and plays against teams located in the Denver metro area. Minors Division and up will take turns playing against those teams at their field and at PCLL fields. Tee Ball and Coach Pitch games are held at the Burland Mud Hole fields.

See Field Locations for a map.
