Platte Canyon Little League currently offers the following SPRING and Fall Baseball programs:
Please note that some ages overlap over multiple programs. When registering, please choose the program you feel is the best fit for your athlete. PCLL reserves the right to adjust any player at any level for safety reasons as well as to best accommodate the most athletes. All divisions are subject to enrollment minimums in order to hold a season.
Tee Ball (Rookie League)
This program is for young players ages 4 to 6 years old just learning the game. Tee Ball utilizes an adjustable batting tee for hitting. The program runs from April through mid-June with games beginning in May. This program features structured learning with 1-2 practices per week until games begin and 1-2 games per week thereafter. There are no longer practices after games begin. Over the course of the season, coaches and players will engage in a series of lessons utilizing activities that include skills, drills and plenty of physical activity. All players participate, no score is kept and outs are not called.
Coach Pitch (Farm League)
This program focuses on skills essential for building a solid foundation for the game of baseball while having fun. It is intended for players ages 5-7 years old who are ready to hit a moving ball. Little League rules are modified to promote skill development. Coaches are allowed on the field and pitch to their own teams. We do not keep score or strike count at this level and kids are given as many as 9 to 10 pitches to hit. Later in the season as skills develop, score may be kept and outs called. This is decided on a case-by-case basis by the coaches before the start of each game. The season runs from April through June with games beginning in May. The season generally consists of 2 practices per week at the start of the season, with 2 games per week when season play begins.
Kid Pitch Levels:
The following levels require players to attend an Assessment Day scheduled at the start of the season. Coaches will determine the level of team each player is on. Please register for what you think is the best fit while understanding the actual level may change after Assessments.
A Minor League
This is a "modified kid pitch" program. Players entering A should be able to defend themselves from a thrown ball. The Single A Division plays a 1.5hr baseball game - outs are recorded, score is kept, and we crown "champions" at the end of the season. The program typically involves practices or games 2-3 nights a week. Games are played with 50' base paths and 36' pitching distances. The division plays a "no walks" rule set that incorporates a coach pitching after four balls are thrown to a batter. Players in this Division are typically aged 8-9 years old(league age 6-7 are allowed with one year in Tee-Ball or Coach Pitch) and want to experience a more competitive game than our Coach Pitch division, but are not yet ready for the full AA Division. A Minor League teams play between 12 and 18 games and may travel to other metro area sites for inter-league play.

FALL BASEBALL SEASON INFORMATION
Fall Season is our development baseball season.
We will begin the Fall Season in August with games continuing through the first week of October. Teams will be formed the week prior to the first week of Fall Ball. Teams are created to maximize "fun" - allowing friends to play on the same team or for parents to select coaches they prefer. There is no player assessment or "draft" for Fall Ball. As such, players are encouraged to "play up" in order to build their skills in a low-pressure environment. While kid-pitch division teams typically keep score during the game, wins or losses don't matter, there are no division standings, and no season ending tournament or trophies. The objective of Fall Ball is to have fun playing baseball and to develop skills. Coaches are encouraged to allow all players to experience different playing positions including pitcher, catcher, and first base (positions that are often more restricted during our Spring Season).
CALENDAR:
Registration for Fall will open by late July.
Practices will begin mid Aug.
Games will begin late Aug or first week of Sep.
Last game will be first week of Oct.
***Please note that PCLL reserves the right to move players from one level to another for safety reasons as well as to accommodate the most players depending on interest at each level. This is done at the coach's discretion.
